There’s little argument that in order to achieve your desired outcome in life you need discipline, tenacity, courage, and a strong defined vision of the future.
You’ll need years of smart working, rather than hard work…. you also have to be motivated to get up in the morning and do the most basic of tasks…
The bigger picture isn’t always the failing point.
Start as you mean to go on… make your bed, brush your teeth, eat your breakfast, walk the dog, all these things contribute to the bigger picture despite being foundation element often forgotten.
Reconnect With The Purpose.
Without the urgency to start your day with the menial task, you’ll suffer from procrastination and burnout. You’ll lose interest in the life long outcome that you swore you’d turn into a reality. Rather accepting, the basics as your purpose for the day, not the small contributions and the foundation that supports your intended outcome, and a bridge to the larger tasks at hand.
Stuck in a loop of housework, paperwork and chores?
Here are several considerations that could help if you are struggling to gain the motivation, to manifest those dreams you once held close and are caught in a loop of unfulfilling necessities.
Dream Bigger Than You Are Right Now.
Dream big. To stay motivated, you have to set your sights high, about 80% higher than you are right now. Some of the most successful people in the world did things that many people thought were impossible and once were thought to be mad for thinking so.
Dream big. If you play small, you’ll get small returns.
Creating small dreams will stop you from doing great things. It will make you think you’re actually doing something significant when you’re not. So, always aim high. 10% of your 180% is a fair better journey to be on…the outcome isn’t all that bad either.
Stay Curious And Look For Other Ways Of Thinking.
Stephen Hawking, arguably the best cosmologists of our time, was able to theorise the mysteries of the universe because he expanded his mind in a way that others limited to the current knowns.
His deep curiosity of theoretical physics, black holes, led to many theories and broadened our understanding of space, time, and the universe.
Be curious when you’re working toward your intentions, go laterally as far as you would on a forward timeline. Avoid the temptation to think that the past was the best way just because it worked.
Get feedback and be open to criticism, you may find that others are more willing to share the critical information that you are missing. Remember a puzzle is made up with many pieces that ‘individually’ fail to fulfil their intended role.
Surround Yourself With Better People.
The people we surround ourselves with have a big impact on our lives and our personal development and in my opinion are more important to personal fulfilment than any other factor in life. This might be one of the most overlooked elements of motivation, because people often only look at themselves but not their environment as a reason for their failings.
Have you ever been around a negative person and walked away feeling negative and cynical? Have you been around someone positive and felt happier the rest of the day? Avoid negative people where possible and if you can't, make the conscious decision to ‘NOT’ accept their way of thinking. Acknowledge them and move on.
Use Failure As A Tool For Betterment.
Failure can hold you back or help you succeed. I’ve covered this in previous articles; you can look back at why I promote failure as a key tool for personal development and growth.
Take your ego out of the equation it has little place in your future. Don’t look at failure as evidence that you’re not good enough. Instead, look at each failure as an opportunity to chisel your rough edges and get you a little closer to your goal.
